Description

The open cluster NGC 2244 lies at the center of the nebula whcih lies about 5,000 light-years from Earth and measures roughly 130 light years in diameter. The Chandra X-ray Observatory revealed the presence of approximately 2500 young stars within the dense molecular cloud, including massive O-type stars which are primarily responsible for the ionized bubble.

The un-relenting cloud over the last month(s) temporarily lost the plot and I got one spectaular night with the SQM meter reading magnitude 20.6  per square arcsecond but it was obvious to the unaided eye this was a very good night indeed.  More data would have been nice but I wouldn't hold my breath. It's raining again :-(.
